Much of it has been brought on by the Super League war… changes from the earlier incorporation of the NSWRL in 1984 were subtle at first then completed virtually within a season, when all the clubs and even the affiliates followed and became incorporated…
The impact on the sport was quite definitive…Rugby league is not now, never has been and never will be purely and solely a business…it is the consumer-the fan, who will decide when they want changes to the game by voting with their feet or the remote.
Rugby league must continue to evolve because each generation of fans will demand change. While other games have the heritage of generations to be preserved, rugby league must continue to seek fans’ approval…
